Skinamics was founded in 2009, which is when it first began marketing its medical skincare products – the result of a patented dermatological range developed by Schering AG Berlin (now Bayer AG) – under private labels via licensing agreements.

The patent family was transferred to its developer and the subsequent founder of skinamics GmbH, enabling us to fully develop our formulation technology and establish a database. Our products included our own SILCURA® brand – a unique medical skincare formulation for the therapeutic treatment of inflammatory dermatitis.

Product Concept

Our dermatological products are technologically formulated to maximize the skin’s hydration, lipid balance and tolerability. They are free from any known allergens and potential irritants, enabling them to be applied to gently repair the damaged skin barrier.

Skinamics’ medical skincare products comply with strict specifications when it comes to meeting the needs of patients with diseased and highly sensitive skin. That means:

  • They contain as few ingredients as possible
  • Their multi-active ingredients are of the highest purity
  • They have excellent tolerability, as proven by clinical studies
  • They demonstrate genuine skin regeneration and protection
  • The sensory profile is matched to the condition for which the product is indicated
  • The product application features are aligned with the patient’s needs (e.g. spray emulsion technology for rapid and gentle distribution on the skin)

All products are manufactured according to GMP for medicinal products. All raw ingredients, packaging materials and products comply with GMP quality assurance standards.

Our products are classified as cosmetics within the EU. Outside the EU, they are commonly given the status of medical cosmetics and are registered with the national competent state authorities on the basis of extended documentation. Our Lipo silver emulsions may be classified as Class III medical products, depending on the indication.

Dr. Patrick Franke: Holds a doctorate in pharmacy. In 1996, he joined the dermatology center at Schering AG as a research associate, working on drug development. He was a member of various interdisciplinary project teams working on the development of new ointments, from the preclinical phase through to market launch. In 2003, he moved into business development, working on new markets and acquisitions in dermatology.

In 2005, he took over as head of the dermatology development unit at Intendis GmbH, a Schering subsidiary, where he was responsible for formulation and process development, as well as the life cycle management of international product lines (Finacea, Skinoren, Dardia, Advantan). Dr Franke is a “Qualified Person” under Section 15 of the German Medicinal Products Act and a responsible person under the EU cosmetic products regulation. He has filed international patent applications and been granted patents in dermal and transdermal technology.

From 2006 to 2009, he focused on building up epinamics GmbH Berlin, which specializes in pharmaceutical and cosmetic product development, as well as the licensing of dermal and transdermal products.

In 2009, he established and took over the management of skinamics GmbH, focusing on the development and licensing of medical skincare products.
